ANDREW Buteera will undergo surgery this week. The Amavubi midfielder hobbled out of last year’s Cecafa Challenge Cup final against the Uganda Cranes after suffering a lateral meniscus partial tear in his right knee and has been sidelined since.

Isonga club chairman Augustin Munyandamutsa, who is eager to sign the Proline player, yesterday revealed that the player will have surgery in France this week.

"He is travelling to France this week to have surgery and we hope he recovers sooner rather later,” he said.

The 18-year-old is now expected to miss next month’s 2013 Africa Nations Cup first leg qualifier against Nigeria. Ibrahim Itangishyaka also underwent surgery last week. Buteera and Itangishyaka were part of the junior wasps’ squad which played in last year’s Fifa U-17 World Cup in Mexico.
