The Serbian kicked the ball away from the field just when a Marine player was preparing to take a throw-in.
Ferwafa Secretary General Michel Gasingwa has now revealed that Kopunovic is suspended for the club’s next match against Isonga.
"After reviewing the match commissioner’s report, we find him guilty of misconduct. He is, therefore, suspended for Police’s match against Isonga on February 8,” he said.
This is the second time Kopunovic has been charged with misconduct this season.
In September, 2011, he was forced to watch Police’s Primus Cup fixture against La Jeunesse from the stands as he served a one-match touchline ban for a similar offense during a stormy Cup encounter with APR.
After 10 matches, Police have 21 points; just three short of league leaders APR and two adrift of Mukura.
In a related development, Primus League center referee, Richard Twagirayezu, has also been banned for three matches, but Ferwafa was hesitant to comment on the issue by press time.
