It is sad to learn that ignorance about access to credit offered by commercial banks and other microfinance institutions is one of the factors that continue to keep many people in poverty. Lack of capital is, by far, the main impediment to doing business in Rwanda.

Most banks I know of offer loans and credit to both small and large businesses as well as to people with enterprising ideas.

Unfortunately, it has turned out that some people do not know about these services, meaning that they fail to take advantage of the available opportunities to create wealth.

I think banks are not doing enough to sensitize their loan products across the country. People do not know where to find them and when they finally find do, they get only scanty information.

Banks should advertise their products more. They should be in position to educate the citizens on how they can benefit from these facilities, and advise them on how best to faithfully pay back the loans.
