Editor,

I read with keen interest your article titled "Hospitality students set for Kenyan internship” which appeared in yesterday’s issue of The NewTimes.

It would be a great pleasure to welcome Rwandan hospitality students to India. All major international hotel chains have a marked presence in our country. Even the two major Indian hotel companies, the Taj Group and the Oberoi Group, have their properties overseas, including in Africa.

The Indian Merchants’ Chamber (IMC), a 105-year old Premier Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Rwanda Private Sector Federation (RPSF) and we would be happy to initiate a pilot project in partnership with Rwanda Tourism University College ( RTUC ) and RPSF so as to  give a few select hospitality students the unique opportunity of doing an internship here, in India.

My country already receives many students from Rwanda at the Under-Graduate, Post Graduate and even at the Doctorate level.  We also have some students from various fields who come for an internship programme here. Why not Rwandan hospitality students?

These young and budding students will surely benefit immensely from such a programme and also be great Ambassadors for Rwanda.
