Rwamagana - A Senior Three student at ESI Rwamagana, was arrested by Police for allegedly defiling a 4-year old girl. The incident took place yesterday in Rusave Cell of Kigabiro Sector in Rwamagana. The suspect, who claims to be 16 years old, is currently held at Rwamagana Police station pending further investigations and medical report.According to the father of the girl, the child’s mother was busy with her domestic chores when her daughter complained of pains in her genital areas. He said that they later learned that the suspect had injured the victim’s private parts.A neighbour then alerted the family that the arrested teenager had been seen with the child moments before she started complaining, claims that were later corroborated by the toddler.Samuel Ndahayo, a neighbour of the victim, said that crimes against children had gone beyond limit, adding that there was need for increased vigilance to deter crime."I’m trying to comprehend this person’s thinking when he sees a 4 year old child. What does he say? I need help to understand that. What is wrong with people?” he pondered.Jean Marie Kalisa, the leader of Rusave village, blamed the defilement on unruly youths in the community. He alleged that the suspect had committed similar crimes before, both at school and in the locality."The suspect has a very bad track record at school...fellow students have revealed his sexual crimes. Such criminals must be isolated... we have a problem of highly undisciplined youth. He claims he is 16, but he must be older than that,” Kalisa stated.
