GOR Mahia officials fly in this weekend for further talks about signing Police striker Meddie Kagere.

The Kenyan club’s secretary general George Bwana yesterday said: "We are very serious about signing Meddie and hope to seal a deal with the club.”

"We are sending a delegation to negotiate transfer fees (with the club) and personal terms (with the player).”

"There is no doubt that he will be a great addition to the squad.”

With the Kenya transfer window coming to an end, Bwana is desperate to land the striker.

Gor Mahia will open their CAF Orange Confederation Cup campaign against Ferroviario de Maputo of Mozambique.

The Kenyans will travel to Mozambique for the first leg on the weekend of February 17-19 before hosting the Mozambican side on the weekend of March 2-4.

Last year, Kagere made a name for himself after becoming joint top scorer in the Cecafa Tusker Challenge Cup with five goals.

After eight games, the striker also tops the 2011/12 Primus League charts with seven goals.
