Traders should treat clients with decorum

I am a regular reader of your newspaper and I really appreciate your positive contribution towards creating public awareness. Permit me to express my displeasure of some traders who continue to behave in contempt of the customer.

I specifically cite an incident at a pharmacy based in Remera last week where around 20 people sought to buy some medication as directed by their respective physicians.

Most held RAMA medical insurance cards while others had the medi-plan insurance ones.

The pharmacy had skeleton staff to serve the huge number of customers. While the number was overwhelming, the few available staff regrettably acted negligently. We were particularly irked by one, who spent long on her phone in total disregard of the cumulative number of clientele.

Meanwhile, one of the clients seemed too ill as he unsuccessfully jostled for space to be served and nearly fainted.

At one point, it was drama as one of the clients needed special clearance from the Rama personnel since the invoice exceeded Frw40, 000 but they had already closed business at 5:00pm, yet he had spent over 30 minutes waiting in vain.

My advice to specifically the pharmacy in question and other local traders is that good customer care is essential if businesses are to grow.
