Kigali Volleyball Club is scheduled to start preparation ahead of the start of the 2012 national league which kicks off in two weeks.

KVC have not won the league in four years but head coach Jean Marie Nsengiyumva and the club management are vowing to bring an end to the long drought.

"We gave the players a holiday to enjoy with their families but now that the festive season is over, we plan to start preparations in order to give ourselves a chance to compete for the title,” KVC head coach told Times Sport yesterday.

Last year, the former champions finished in third position, behind APR and the National University of Rwanda (NUR).

"We want to improve our game and try to win the title because it’s been long time without winning the league.  We are trying to build the team and add other players that can help to fight for the title this year,” the former national team player said.

The champions APR, who will represent the country at the Africa Club Championships this year, are yet to start training.

Kigali Volleyball Club is  the oldest team in the national volleyball league. It has produced star players like Casius Isibo, Jean Luc Ndayikengurukiye, Christophe Mukunzi who is playing in Algerian league, Pierre Marshal Kwizera, among others.
