Ploughing through new systems of farming

Rwanda’s agricultural sector reforms that have been ongoing for the last 10 years are  expected to move to a much higher gear, this year, following the rollout of major new production schemes, last year, targeting the transformation and, by extension, the livelihoods of  hundreds of thousands of, mostly, very poor  farmers. Three very large equally ambitious production schemes such as a large scale irrigation project, along with several smaller others, can be cited as pipelines with major implications for the economy, this year. Since such projects are being championed by her ministry, it is, without a doubt, that Dr Agnes Kalibata’s diary will be kept full during the course of the year.
