Rwanda to host six international tennis tournaments in 2023

Rwanda will be a hub for the international tennis fraternity with six international competitions set to be held in the country’s capital, Kigali, in 2023.

The Rwanda Tennis Federation (FRT) confirmed the dates for each of the competitions as the country gradually makes giant strides in the sport.

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Tour Juniors will be the first on the calendar to be held in Rwanda.

The tournament, which will bring together the Junior Grade 5 tennis players, will be held in two various sections, with the first set to take place from April 24-28 while the second will follow the following week from May 1-5.

The Kicukiro Ecology Tennis Club will also welcome the Africa Group IV of the Billie Jean King Cup which will take place from June 5-11. Eleven countries namely Rwanda, Angola, Cameroon, Congo Brazzaville, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mozambique, Senegal and Tanzania will participate in the competition.

From July 17-22, Rwanda will host the Group IV Davis Cup tournament. The country successfully hosted the same event in July 2022.

There will be two more ITF World Tennis Tours Juniors for Grade 4 which will run from August 14-18 and from August 21-25respectively.
