Amavubi Stars face Team of Professional Players (TPP) this afternoon in their second and final Rwandan tour leg’s friendly match at Amahoro stadium.
The national team is using this game as part of their preparations of 2013 Africa Nations’ Cup qualifiers were they will meet Nigeria’s Super Eagles on February 29 in the first leg in Kigali.
TPP which is composed of young Rwandan players drawn from various clubs in Europe, mainly Belgium, plays their second game after losing 5-0 to Primus league and Peace Cup winners APR on Saturday.
Coach Sredojovic ‘Micho’ Milutin said over the weekend, "This team (TPP) is composed of young and good players, who should be a big asset for future assignments for Amavubi, U-20 and U-17 national teams.”
The Serb coach commend former Amavubi Stars skipper Desire Mbonabucya, who came up with the idea of putting together the professional team.
He noted, "There are two or three players that we think are national team material, while the rest can be considered for U-20 assignments as we give them ample to improve.”
Mbonabucya, now a Fifa agent and coach of TPP is satisfied with the team’s performance and he will be looking to more promising display when they face Amavubi team. On Saturday, TPP had a shocking first half where they lost 0-5 to APR.
The military side which is also preparing for this week’s Primus national football league against Amagaju as well as next year’s Orange Champions League campaign, scored their goals through Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza, Faty Papy, Ernest Kwizera and Brazilian duo of Douglas Lopez and Diego Oliveira.
The touring team is expected to leave the country tomorrow.
