Kigali City Council has rescinded the decision to limit party hours during the festive season. Speaking to The New Times Saturday, The Mayor of Kigali, Fidele Ndayisaba, told revelers there is no curfew and they can party for as long as they wish.

Speaking to The New Times Saturday, The Mayor of Kigali, Fidele Ndayisaba, told revelers there is no curfew and they can party for as long as they wish.
"People going for parties or concerts during the festive season have the right to go on for as long as they want,” Mayor Ndayisaba said, adding that there is no ban on celebratory events going beyond midnight or up to morning.
In a statement issued Thursday, KCC had announced that a security meeting held during the week had come up with the resolution to ban music, church concerts, house parties and other social gatherings that will exceed midnight during the festive season.
The Mayor explained that the earlier resolution was drawn to ensure party goers’ safety and comfort of other people.
He called on revelers to celebrate while mindful of their safety as well as other people’s freedoms and rights.
"We only wanted people to party peacefully and in a responsible manner that will not deny others their rights,” Ndayisaba said.
"People are free and will not be stopped from taking part in festivities”.
