Editor,

First, I would like to wish The New Times, readers and the public, at large, a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, 2012. The festive season is always a time for everyone to enjoy. The fact that God has enabled us see yet another Christmas and usher in another year is cause for celebration.

During such a period, we celebrate with our loved ones, and reconnect with close and distant family members.  It gives us the opportunity to take stock of the year ending and reflect on whether we achieved set targets. It is at this time that we get to strategize for the New Year and commit ourselves to achieving specific goals.

While there are lots of celebrations during the festive season, Parents should keep watch of their children.

There is a growing concern about how children below the age of 21 are consuming alcohol and drugs. Adults should keep watch to ensure that children are protected.

Once again, I would like to wish your readers the best of 2012.
