Editor,

According to recent media reports, the government is in the process of creating at least 214,000 jobs annually.

We have to give credit for the ongoing reforms and programmes that have helped create jobs. I would like to add that in addition to job creation, those starting up businesses should be advised on quality and innovations on their products as they fetch more revenue.

For agriculture, it is essential that we export value added products that would continually generate jobs, a programme, I believe has already been put in place.

It is also noteworthy that today’s workforce is significantly better-educated. More significantly, the economy’s ability to generate jobs has significantly gone up. It is my belief that both factors should help the government in this endeavour to create the said jobs.
