50 Police Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday completed a three-month training in securing and protecting a crime scene. The training,part of a move to professionalize the force,was held in Bugesera District and was funded by the Belgian Technical Cooperation (BTC).

The training,part of a move to professionalize the force,was held in Bugesera District and was funded by the Belgian Technical Cooperation (BTC).
Speaking at the end of the training, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Emmanuel Gasana, noted that training police officers in investigation skills is the force’s priority.
He said Police investigation courses have been going on for the past years, and the force intends to continue conducting similar exercises.
"Skills shall facilitate in the fight against both internal and trans-national and cross-border crimes.”
Assistant Inspector of Police, Solange Bihoyiki, who represented the trainees, said that the skills they acquired would help them do their job in a more professional manner.
Police Spokesperson, Superintendent Theos Badege, noted that the skills obtained by trainees will help protect human rights as far as arrests and sentences are concerned.
In a related development, 329 Police officers on Saturday, completed a four-month Special Forces training held in Kirehe District. Over a thousand police officers have completed the training.
