NEW volleyball club Karongi have made their intentions clear by signing five star players ahead of the new season.

The team has brought onboard Kwizera Pierre Marshal, Flavien Ndamukunda, Clement Musabe, Placide Sibomana a.k.a Madison and Fidel Leo Mutesi who all featured for Nyanza last season.

Karongi is also on the verge of agreeing one-year-deals for APR’s former captain Alexis Nkuranga, Athanase Bigirimana of INATEK and Kigali Volleyball Club’s Jean Luc Mbonyuwontuma Kazungu.

According to Karongi coach Innocent Nshimiyimana, the club’s immediate target is to finish inside the top two in next year’s national league.

"We feel finishing inside the top two is a realistic target for us and we shall work towards achieving that,” Nshimiyimana said.

The team has garnered huge sponsorship from Kivu wart, Holiday hotel, Golf hotel and Karongi district.

APR claimed the men’s league title after outmuscling National University of Rwanda (NUR) 3-1 but was not so lucky in the ladies’ fray after going down 0-3 against Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA).
