AFTER qualifying for next year’s London Paralympic Games, Dominique Bizimana’s next target is to compete at the 2014 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The National Paralympic Committee chief, yesterday, said that the London Games would act as a preparation ground for 2014.

"It is the first time Rwanda will be participating in a team sport at the Olympics (Paralympics) so it’s definitely a huge achievement for NPC and Rwanda as a whole,” Bizimana said.

Rwanda will feature in the sitting volleyball category after winning the 2011 African sub- Saharan sitting volleyball championship.

Besides sitting volleyball, Rwanda is also expected to compete in power lifting as well as athletics during next year’s Paralympics.

In recent years, Rwanda has done very well in major tournaments. Last year, the country won the world sitball championship. They also won gold at this year’s All Africa Games in Maputo.
