SOUTH Africa-based Dj Bego will be the man to take us through the New Year’s Eve party on 31st December when the 7th edition of the Happy People Party takes place at MINAFFET Gardens at Kimihurura, Kigali.

DJ Bego a resident DJ at Club Hush (Ex-Moloko) in Johannesburg, South Africa replaces Kenyan DJ Styles, who has graced the last three editions of the party.

‘This year, we wanted to make a bigger change and give Happy People fans a new feel of partying in Kigali. DJ Bego is the right person to bring this change because he has the experience in a field that suits the magnitude of the party,” explained Remy Nsanga De Keyzer, the CEO of Happy People Rwanda, the organisers of the party.

"You should also remember that DJ Styles will be here for the Jungle Party as he can’t play for holiday makers at two big parties in the space of two weeks,” he emphasised.

Remy noted that the party is due to come to a halt at midnight as revellers usher in the New Year with a flurry of fireworks amid tight security.

”We’ve put in measures to improve security mainly in the parking and have also acquired a bigger bar with many attendants,” he stressed.

Apart from being a resident DJ at Club Hush, Dj Bego also played at the massive Big Brother Africa Party held at Club Uhuru. He was also the man behind the wheels during the World Cup Trophy Tour at the Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa and the Kora Awards opening ceremony in 2005.

DJ Bego was also nominated in the Best African DJ Category in the 2006 Channel O African Music Video Awards that features the crème de la crème of Africa’s DJs. All of the nominees, who have played at parties throughout the continent, have been associated with Channel O.

Happy People is a group of Rwandan professionals that came together in 2004 to organise events for Rwandans living in Rwanda and those in the Diaspora. The main Happy People events, held on the New Year’s Eve over the last four to five years, have built a reputation as some of the biggest parties in the country.

The party, which begins at 10:00 pm, is sponsored by Tigo, Mützig, RwandAir and Lemigo Hotel among others. The entry is Rwf10,000.
