PLAYERS in the top flight league have reason to play their hearts out after confirmation that the monthly awards will go on.

The scheme was put hold due to the transition in leadership at the national football body (Ferwafa) following resignations of former president Jean Bosco Kazura and C.E.O Jules Kalisa.

According to Jean Pierre Uwizeye, Bralirwa’s Brand Manager for Primus and Heineken, the company is in talks with Ferwafa to revitalize the deal.

"Talks are at the advanced stage and we are optimistic that things will go as planned,” Uwizeye told Times Sport yesterday.

The scheme started in the latter stages of last season and it is believed that it had a positive impact on the likes of Meddie Kagere and Fredric Ndata.

In particular, Kagere has gone on to assert his place in Amavubi’s starting XI. The Police striker was one of the top players at the just ended Cecafa Tusker Challenge Cup in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He scored five goals to finish as joint top-scorer alongside his captain Olivier Karekezi.
