BURERA-Students attending the countrywide civic training programme, commonly known as Itorero, taking place at Kidaho Secondary School in Burera District, have completed the construction of 10 houses for the historically marginalised people in the area as part of the programme’s community outreach initiative.

The students also collected cash, food and other assorted items to be donated to 16 historically marginalised families in Kabyiniro Cell.

"This Itorero has taught us that we have to support one another. We feel more united with our colleagues than ever before,” said Theoneste Sebahire, one of the students.

"The values, the integrity expected of us, are some of the major lessons we have learnt”.

The students also participated in paving the Kabyiniro road, which links the area to Cyanika Health Centre.

Close to 500 senior six leavers of both sexes are attending the camp which concludes today.

Participants were taught their role in national development, Rwandan history and various development programmes.

"Ingando has taught me to be patriotic, espouse hope and integrity. As girls, it has taught us that it is possible to participate in all activities as our male counterparts,” commented Odette Hagenimana.

In a related event, at another training camp in Musanze District, 320 students participated in the completion of classrooms as part of the 12–Years of Basic Education (YBE) initiative in Cyuve Sector.
