With continued support, women can succed in business. The NewTimes File.

 Editor,

I read in yesterday’s issue of The New Times that a survey carried out in several East African countries indicates that women lag behind when it comes to doing business.

While the report recognizes that progress had been made in empowering women, it states that the majority of them still occupy lower paying jobs and housework.

However, to my knowledge, given the opportunity,  women can perform and deliver equally as good as men.

As a matter of fact, Rwandan women have proved to be successful business people, even though there are a number of them who deal in what may be described as petty trade.

I believe through the continued empowering of women, a lot more can be achieved.
