MUBARAK Harelimana fought his way into the last eight of the ITF East Africa U-18 Circuit after a straight sets (7-5, 7-6) victory over Madagascar’s Andriatokiana Ratsimandresy at Hotel Umubano.

The 16-year-old will now play Ronald Myburugh of South Africa this morning. His colleague Hamiss Gatete was however not so lucky after crashing out to Egyptian Mostafa Mohammed (6-3, 5-7, 6-3).

Harelimana is the only Rwandan left in the week-long event which attracted players from Burundi, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Portugal, Botswana, Malawi, Namibia and hosts Rwanda. Anatole Biziman, Obed Havugimana, Moussa Rukundo and Akim Ntwali were all knocked out in the second round.
