Editor,

Allow me through your newspaper to respond to an article titled "Over 100 Kigali business to relocate,” December, 1 by The New Times reporter Bosco Asiimwe.

In the article, an official from Kigali City Council was quoted as telling a journalist that KCC had instructed owners of 107 residential houses in the city used for business purposes to relocate after failure to comply with a directive to redesign the structures to suit commercial purposes.

KCC reportedly stated that out of the 270 residential facilities whose owners were directed to submit architectural designs to Kigali Construction One-Stop Centre to modify usage, only 163 complied.

The article mentioned Afrika Bite in Kimihurura as one of the affected businesses. While we do not know the fate of other business owners, we wish to state the record straight regarding the issue of Africa Bite.

We complied with the said directive and submitted all requirements before the September, 30, 2011 deadline to the Kigali Construction One-Stop Centre.
