RIGHT Guards ended their distinguished record of failure in the Sulfo Cricket League on Sunday after edging Impala Titans in a thrilling final at Kicukiro oval.

As expected, Joshua Mwanja continued his rich batting form with a patient knock of 60runs but it was Guards captain Derrick Bayingana who made the difference. His brisk 46runs coupled with two key wickets (Bob Bashir Songa) and (Eric Dusingizimana) carried his side to the finish line.

Right Guards posted a seemingly low score of 198 runs but Impala fell 25 runs short thanks to aggressive bowling from Bayingana and Eugene Haragirimana.

Bayingana claimed the man of the match award while Mwanja took the man of series awards after scoring a record 540runs, taking four wickets and five catches).

Impala took two individual awards; Dusingizimana (best batsman) and Freddy Ndayisenga (best bowler) while Romesh Thakkar of Indorwa was named best fielder.
