Development partners in Gicumbi District, this week, took part in a two-day exhibition to showcase their services to area residents.

The trade fair was organised by the Gicumbi District Joint Action Development Forum (JADF).

The exhibition attracted over 40 partners.

"We are very happy with the turn up of our partners. It will give a chance to the residents to know more about what they do in the district,” Mayor Bonane Nyangezi said, while opening the expo.

The exhibition attracted various local and international NGOs, business enterprises, banks, cooperative and associations.

According to the district authorities, the number of hotels, restaurants, entertainment and HIV education programmes has increased.

"The number of exhibitors present reflects the development strides undertaken in the district and this is attributed to the government’s efforts to improve the well being of Rwandans,” said Placide Safari, the JADF Country Coordinator.

Some exhibitors, who spoke to The New Times, said the exercise was helpful.

"We commend the organisers for giving us this opportunity to showcase our products to the residents, who now understand what we do,” said Jeanette Uwimana of AVEGA Association, which offers support to widows and orphans of the 1994 Genocide countrywide.
