KARONGI - Dozens of passengers narrowly survived death after two minibuses were involved in a head-on collision along the Kigali-Karongi highway.

The Karongi-bound Toyota Coaster minibus, registration number RAB 241L belonging to Capital Express swerved off the rood and overturned several times after colliding with a similar bus belonging to Impala Express.

Speaking to the New Times, the driver of Capital Express, Staco Jean Nepo Museni, explained what he remembers.

"It was a bit dark when I noticed the high speed at which he (Impala driver) was driving. I attempted to swerve to the roadside but his vehicle hit mine after he failed to negotiate a bend,” he narrated.

Museni added that his vehicle drifted off the road, rolled several times and hit a house, bringing the bus to a halt.

Miraculously most of the passengers emerged out of the wreckage with minor injuries. Those with severe injuries were, however, rushed to Kabgayi Hospital for treatment.
