Allow me to comment on a story that appeared in yesterday’s issue of The NewTimes titled "Quality education key to regional development.” Indeed, we cannot attain development if we do not undertake research.

Conversely, we cannot carry out standard research without well educated people.

It is, therefore, important for the East African Community member states to heavily invest in education as a way to produce better researchers and scientists who will play a significant role in the bloc’s development.
