MALAWI held onto top spot in Group C despite yesterday’s goalless draw with Sudan. Both sides played attacking football but couldnot find the back of the net.

Earlier in the day, Kenya boosted their chances of reaching the quarter-finals after a 2-0 win over Ethiopia. Two first half goals from Bob Mugalia (13th minute) and skipper Pascal Ochieng (44th minute) were enough to give the Harambee Stars three points.

The win moved Kenya into second place with three points, one adrift of group leaders Malawi, and two clear of Sudan. Ethiopia remains bottom of the group.

The Flames face Ethiopia in their final Group C match on Monday while Kenya lock horns with Sudan on Tuesday.

Two Group B matches are on cards today. Somalia, who are yet to earn a point, face Zanzibar while Burundi take on record champions Uganda in the other game.

Uganda are already through to the quarter-final following their 4-0 win over Somalia.
