RWANDA booked their ticket at next year’s Paralympics in London after winning the three-day African sub Saharan sitting volleyball championship which climaxed on Sunday in Kigali.

Having strolled through the group stage with straight forward wins over Uganda (3-0), DRC (3-0) and Burundi (3-0), the hosts beat Burundi 3-1 in the semi-final before thrashing Kenya (3-0) in the final.

The National Paralympics Committee (NPC) Secretary General Celestin Nzeyimana attributed the success to hard work.

"The players and coaching staff put in a lot of hard work in the build-up to the tournament and deserve the victory,” the official said before adding, "But there is little time to celebrate as we need to start preparations for next year’s Games.”

"Our plan is to start preparations early so that we have a successful campaign,” Nzeyimana added.
