BUGESERA- A woman in Bugesera District, on Saturday, killed her neighbour after bickering over a mobile phone charger.

Festianette Mukaminega, 27, allegedly hit the deceased only identified as Jean Damascene, 35, with a club at the back of his head, leaving him unconscious.

The incident occurred at about 6 p.m., in the Kagasa cell of Mwogo sector.

Jean Damascene was taken to Nyamata Hospital, where he succumbed to the head injuries.

Eyewitnesses said the two had a quarrel over a telephone charger they often shared.

District Mayor, Louis Rwagaju, confirmed the incident and warned residents against violence.

"We have had similar cases in our district...the cause of the incident could have been a long time conflict. The culprit and the deceased were neighbours. It thus beats logic to see what happened between them,” he said.

Antionne Habimana, 56, a resident, said that the community is still in shock after the incident.

"This is beyond imagination...we need to do something to stop the brutality,” he said angrily.

The suspect is current held at Nyamata Police Station.
