Editor,

Members of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) have always come out strongly to caution government officials against diversion of public funds.

The Auditor General’s report has indicated that the Rwanda Bureau of Standards (RBS) diverted over Rwf 52 million for  the rehabilitation of a warehouse to accommodate a mycotoxin laboratory to fund other activities, without the consent of the line ministry.

Personally, I think PAC has often warned government officials and it is time to crack the whip.

I am sure all government officials have guidelines to follow in spending public funds. Bottom-line, I suggest authorities punish the culprits maximally as a lesson to deter the crime.
