Patriots Basketball Club has reached the finals of this season’s playoffs, thanks to a 73-51 victory over Tigers in game 2 of the best-of-three semifinals that got underway on Friday.

The Patriots won the first game 91-45 on Friday and went on to win the second one on Sunday, August 28.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Rwanda Energy Group (REG) were forced to wait longer to know their fate, as APR subjected them to a shock 68-59 defeat in game 2 of the best-of-three semifinals.

The development leaves the two teams with a win each, and thus they will have to play the third game to decide who proceeds to the finals.

The two semifinal matches took place at the Kepler University Court.

During the Patriots Vs Tigers game, small forward Steven Hagumintwari scored a game high 19 points while Kenny Gasana added 13 points.

For the APR-REG game, Center Darko Balaban posted 21 points for APR, while Perriere S.E Axel Noe added some 11 to sink REG.

The third match between REG and APR will take place on Wednesday, August 31 at Kepler University Court.

The finals will take place from September 7 through 16th at the Kigali Arena, in a "best-of-five series.

In the women’s category, REG beat The Hoops to set up a date with APR in the final. The army side had already booked their place in the finals by beating IPRC-Huye.
