Editor,

The Rwanda Environmental Management Authority (Rema) has largely played its role in the country’s environmental conservation and preservation, compared to other East African Community partner states. However, more needs to be done to ensure that all the wetlands remain intact. A general outlook of Kigali shows that some wetlands have simply vanished.

For instance, areas around Kinamba which were in the past intact and full of life have been affected. Correspondingly, the same is witnessed in Nyabugogo and neighbouring areas.

I need to know what Rema is doing to prevent encroachment on wetlands.
