To celebrate the new album launch and their illustrious career thus far, Dream Boys hosted a concert that attracted a range of local artistes, as well as Uganda’s ‘Stamina’ maestro Eddie Kenzo.
The event was well organised with many security personnel deployed to ensure tight security at the venue.
The concert started at 6pm with performances from various local artistes such as Jack B, Rozy, Nasson, Uncle Austin, Miss JoJo, Mako Nikoshwa, Rafiki, Urban Boys, Kamichi, Jay Polly and Pacson.
Dream Boys hit the stage at 8pm, with renditions of Inkovu, Isezerano, Iteka ni iteka and Isano, the title track of their new album.
True to form, the duo came on stage decked out in hip red suits and accessories but later changed to casual attire.
For concert attendees, the show was well worth the wait. The 2010 Salax award-winning group treated the enthralled audience to an evening of modern music and dance.
In addition to performing their own songs, the boys also performed the track Bella, a collaboration with Afrobeat singer Kitoko.
Revellers could not keep to their seats as many impulsively danced to the music.
"I love Dream Boys and I am glad that I got an opportunity to see them on stage. I also enjoyed performances by the other artistes. Such concerts should happen more often in the country,” Alice Uwase, the duo’s fan said.
Peter Gasana, another attendee, said: "I loved the fact that the concert was organised – with no chaos, unlike some local concerts I have attended before.”
On the flipside, some fans expressed their disappointment with the sound system and playback performances.
"Well, the concert was organised and the security was perfect, but the performances were just a disaster! All the artistes performed playback and to make matters even worse, the sound system was very poor,” Jean-Claude Habimana criticized.
"This shows lack of seriousness and talent among our artistes. It’s really annoying for one to sacrifice his time and money to a concert where artistes only perform playback,” he added.
After the concert that ended at 10pm, fans attended the after-party at Macadamia Hotel in Kicukiro.
