It is bad to ignore Ombudsman’s recommendations

Editor,

Allow me to express my concern through your newspaper about several recommendations by the office of the Ombudsman. Several people have approached the Ombudsman’s office to have their cases of injustice addressed. But after investigations, the office of the Ombudsman makes recommendations which are in certain cases ignored by some of the culprits.

This office was put in place to fight injustice among other things. But how can one end injustice if recommendations by the anti-graft body are ignored?

If we want to be taken seriously, people who are found in the wrong must be punished. Also, the office of the Ombudsman should be given more powers so that it is able to prosecute rather than merely making recommendations.
