KAMONYI ‑ A local NGO- Rwanda Allied for Peace and Progress (RAPP), on Tuesday handed 36 cows to cooperatives of persons living with and affected by HIV/Aids in Kamonyi District.

The cross-breed heifers were handed over by Richard Mutabazi,

RAPP board chairman, who stated that the support, was part of the Global

Fund projects aimed at economic empowerment.

"The animals were procured through the Global Fund to empower the cooperatives, which have been getting various training on HIV/Aids prevention and contribute to the national strategy of one cow per family,” Mutabazi said.

The animals were given to 12 cooperatives in Musambira, Runda, Rugarika and Gacurabwenge sectors of Kamonyi District. The products from the animals will be managed by each of the groups.
