Senate approves new appointments

The Committee on Political and Good Governance in the Senate on Friday approved the cabinet’s recent appointments.  The appointments include that of the Eastern Province Governor and two ambassadors. Odette Uwamariya was approved as the Governor of the Eastern Province, replacing Dr. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira who was recently named as the Deputy Executive Director and Assistant Secretary-General for UN-HABITAT by the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon

The Committee on Political and Good Governance in the Senate on Friday approved the cabinet’s recent appointments.

The appointments include that of the Eastern Province Governor and two ambassadors.

Odette Uwamariya was approved as the Governor of the Eastern Province, replacing Dr. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira who was recently named as the Deputy Executive Director and Assistant Secretary-General for UN-HABITAT by the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon.

Uwamariya was formerly the coordinator of the projects implementation department in the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The Senate also approved the appointment of Augustin Habimana as Rwanda’s Ambassador to Burundi, while Ben Rugangazi was approved as the country’s High Commissioner to the United Republic of Tanzania.

Rugangazi, who formerly served as the envoy to China, replaces Fatuma Ndangiza, who was recalled recently.
