Tennis trio seek redemption in final leg

JEAN Claude Gasigwa, Anatole Bizimana and Olivier Nkunda will be hoping for better luck when the third leg of the ITF Men’s Futures gets underway this morning at Cercle Rugunga. The trio suffered premature exits in last week’s second leg and are desperate to turn things round. In general, it was a bad outing for Rwanda’s tennis stars.

JEAN Claude Gasigwa, Anatole Bizimana and Olivier Nkunda will be hoping for better luck when the third leg of the ITF Men’s Futures gets underway this morning at Cercle Rugunga.

The trio suffered premature exits in last week’s second leg and are desperate to turn things round. In general, it was a bad outing for Rwanda’s tennis stars.

Dieudonne Habiyambere lost to tournament seed one Ruan Roelofse of South Africa 1-6 2-6.

Anatole Bizimana followed him in the exit chamber after a straight sets (2-6, 0-6) defeat against Italy’s Sinicropi.

Mathieu Uwizeyimana then lost to America’s Fieldman Spencer 1-6, 2-6.

The second leg was won by Egypt’s Mohammed Safwat after a 6-3, 6-2 victory over fellow countryman Maamoun.
