Editor,

Rwanda has done a remarkable job in empowering women. Like most African societies, the place of a woman, in the  past, was the kitchen coupled with many stereotypes and other forms of discrimination that stopped them from progressing.

This trend only changed after the current leadership took over power. Over the last 17 years, we have witnessed women play a significant role in the ongoing transformation of the country.

Various policies are in place to ensure that they have equal access to opportunities and through massive sensitisation campaigns; the traditional stereotypes are on their last legs.
