Super subs Aimé Ntirushwa and Jean Bosco Kayitaba scored late to help Police cement a 4-2 victory over 10-man Rayon Sports in a thrilling encounter held at Muhanga stadium on Saturday.

Rayon and Police were 2-2 level until Ntirushwa scored in the 83rd minute on a quick one-on-one counter-attack with fellow substitute Jean Bosco Kayitaba who set the ball to the attacker to shoot past the advancing Rayon Sports goalie Amani Twagirayezu to put the visitors ahead.

Twagirayezu wasn’t able to fill the void left first choice goalie Adolphe Hakizimana who was replaced in the 37th minute after he was shown a red card after fouling Didier Mugisha in the penalty area.

Kayitaba scored another goal in the 94th minute to end Francis Haringingo’s side’s hopes of securing at least a draw.

Despite the victory, Mashami’s men came to the match as underdogs before mighty Blues who were looking to take home three points to pile more pressure on leaders APR.

However, Mashami and his men were not bothered by the fact that they are quite behind in the title race and gave Rayon a tough afternoon to forget as their title hopes now look in tatters.

Striker Danny Usengimana scored a stunning goal after 15 minutes to put Police ahead before Kenyan import Paul Were canceled the score with a magnificent goal eight minutes later.

The visitors to the lead again as forward Muhadjiri Hakizimana scored from the spot to after Rayon’s goalie Hakizimana fouled Mugisha in the penalty area only for the referee to send him off.

However, Musa Esenu equalized for Rayon Sports with a successful set up from Joackiam Ojera.

The Blues had several chances during the second half with but the likes of Hertier Luvumbu, Were and Ojera wasted several goal-scoring opportunities.

Instead, Police dominated the last 10 minutes and successfully used their chances to score the fourth in the dying minutes.

Elsewhere, AS Kigali beat Mukura Victory Sports 1-0 at Huye Stadium while relegation-threatened Marinesthrashed Musanze 3-0.
