THE national U-17 team will open their Second Division campaign later this month with a tricky game against Musanze. The youngsters were drafted into the league to give them exposure and sufficient playing time ahead of the 2013 Africa U-17 Championship qualifiers.

The U-17s are drawn in Group B alongside SEC Academy, Musanze, United Stars, Etoile de l’Est, National University of Rwanda, Rwamagana City, Interforce, Sorwathe and Pepiniere.

Meanwhile, Group A pits Muhanga against Stella Maris, Esperance, Zebre, Kirehe, Aspor, Intare, Gasabo, Bugesera and Unity.

After playing Musanze on November 27, the youngsters will host SEC Academy on December 3 before facing Etoile de l’Est and NUR on Decemer12 and 17 respectively.

Early this year, Rwanda raised eyebrows when their U-17 team qualified for the 2011 Fifa U-17 World Cup in Mexico following a second spot finish in the Caf U-17 Championship which was hosted in Kigali.

The 2013 Africa U-17 Championship will be hosted in Morocco.
