Natacha Uwamahoro crowned Miss SFB 2011

Natacha Uwamahoro was announced the winner of Miss School of Finance and Banking (SFB) 2011 beauty contest, Saturday night. The event that attracted hundreds of SFB students and its staff, including visitors from different parts of Kigali City, was held at the institute’s auditorium.

Natacha Uwamahoro was announced the winner of Miss School of Finance and Banking (SFB) 2011 beauty contest, Saturday night.

The event that attracted hundreds of SFB students and its staff, including visitors from different parts of Kigali City, was held at the institute’s auditorium.

The Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports Protais Musoni, was the chief guest at the occasion.

Uwamahoro, 19, beat nine other contestants to win the title during the third anniversary of SFB’s beauty pageant. She replaces last year’s winner, Sonia Kabuguza.

The beautiful and gifted young woman was naturally ecstatic and tearful and promised to use her beauty to promote SFB to the national and international level, as well as support the needy and promote gender in the country.

Uwamahoro walked away with plenty of prestigious prizes including Rfw400.000 and a full-year scholarship, courtesy of SFB. The Minor Hotel also offered the beauty one-year V.I.P free services.

Guests at the event were entertained by celebrated local musicians such as King James, Kitoko, Uncle Austine, Dream Boys, Danny, Knowles, Kamichi, who offered energetic performances.

The first runners-up position went to 19-year-old Carmen Akineza while the second runners-up was Sandra Teta, 19. The crowd’s outwardly favourite beauty queen Rachel Umukunzi, 19, emerged us Miss Popularity.

The 10 contestants spent the past few weeks learning the catwalk, answering questions, confidence-building and visiting impoverished children.

They also participated in last month’s community service, otherwise known as ‘Umuganda’ for the first time.

This year’s event was organised by the School of Finance and Banking Students’ Association (SFBAS) in collaboration with the institute’s administration. It was coordinated by Nelly Wilson Misago, the Marketing Manager of Inyarwanda.com, in partnership with a local based fashion and design company.

Trendily dressed women and men assembled at Quelque Part Bar and Restaurant in the Kigali City Centre, jostling for space to rub shoulders with the beauty queens.
