Her fans call her "Miss JoJo”. The 25-year, Josiane Uwineza has established herself as a music icon and a leading example to her fellow musicians and age mates in the country.

How do you spend your leisure time?

Reading novels and sometimes hangout with my friends.

How do you treat your man?

Despite my tight schedule, I try to fix some good time with him. Whenever I’m free I cook him a delicious meal. Sometimes, I wash and iron his clothes.

Your favourite salon?

Is Ihoho, and probably New Image salon. Both are in Kigali city center.

If by any chance appointed as the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, what would you put in place or remove?

Oh my God, there are plenty of things. I would also ensure that I put in place standardize recreation centers in the country, in order to help talented people to exploit their talents.

Your favourite make-up?

I’m a natural woman and hate using anything that can change my skin colour. I only apply the "Baby powder”, lip balm and once in a while a simple dark eye pencil.

Your shopping centre?

Nyabugogo central market.

Your best ever friend is…

This chic called Mado. We have been friends since our senior four up to now.

Marriage plans?

Not soon. I need to first of all build my career and also to put something on ground, like a house.

What is your most valuable item?

Maybe my daily, because it contains my brain. And it also keeps all my important secrets.

Your nightclub?

Cadillac. I like all its music selections and designs.

Favourite sport?

Karate.

What does your money go on?

Musical instruments and writing songs. But I have always spared a coin to buy myself chocolates.

Wedding song?

"A Kiss of a Rose”, Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel, a soul singer, who holds the Afro-Caribbean roots

Other plans?

Writing books, about the Rwandan history and the social life.

My greatest invitation ever…..

In October last year, when I was honored to perform during the Kigali celebrations of centenary. No doubt was flattered, why me among other famous and outstanding musicians in the country?

I was extremely thrilled and I will never forget this particular event, because I was also party of people who made it happen.

What is your favourite jewelry?

Silver and African beads. There make the wearer look nature but astonishing.   

How do you combine your music career with other social responsibilities?

I think I will have to admit that I’m one character who is more organised and do stuff according to the schedule. The answer is just simple. I work according to my timetable. 

How many awards have you won yourself?

Generally I have never received a serious music award, apart from a trophy I received last year from the National University of Rwanda, "Rector Excellence Award 2007”.

Who is your local music icon?

None, though I appreciate each and every artists. Their talents and works are equally amazing and contributing towards the development of our society.

My big plans for music……

Is to upgrade my career to the international level but to maintain it local.
