Editor,

Medical practitioners play a key role in any society hence the very reason why training is crucial.

Although several major hospitals have enough qualified doctors, it appears some dispensaries and clinics lack qualified medical practitioners.

So far, there have been no efforts in place to upgrade skills among medical practitioners, especially in smaller medical institutions.

Besides, many of our dispensaries close early, when they should work 24 hours a day because people living far away from hospitals often need their services. Training of medics should, thus, be an ongoing process.
