M Hotel, the four-star hotel located in the heart of Kigali, was officially inaugurated on March 30, 2023, in a colourful ceremony.

The official opening of the hotel renowned as one of Kigali’s leading venues for weddings, corporate functions, theatre sessions and short lectures, was graced by officials from the City of Kigali, Rwanda Development Board, Chamber of Tourism, and the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda, among others.

The hotel has 116 comfortable guestrooms including suites and 14 conference rooms. It is also an ideal place for various events, small group discussions and training classrooms.

The Deluxe Single Room in M Hotel is 32 square metres with deluxe amenities inclusive of a king-size bed, a large work area, and a modern bathroom with an exclusive balcony.

The hotel also has a Deluxe Twin Room, a modern retreat featuring two queen beds with a space of 32 square metres offering a large work area, and a modern bathroom with an exclusive balcony.

Deluxe King Room which is 46 square metres offers a king bed, a large work area, and a modern bathroom with an exclusive balcony.

A Junior Suite, decorated in neutral tones, is a 64 square metre stylish one-bedroom suite with a king-size bed, and a separate living area with two exclusive balconies.

The Deluxe Three Bedroom Apartment of 128 square metres, offers a modern comfy separate living area and three elegant guestrooms each with a king bed, two bathrooms, a private kitchen and three exclusive magnificent balconies.

A Presidential Suite of 128 square metres features one bedroom with a king-size bed, one bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and a spacious living room with access to a rooftop space.

Some of the rooms’ amenities include a 43” flat-screen TV, controlled air-conditioning, in-room robes and slippers, hair dryer, combs and shower cap, mini-fridge, tea and coffee making amenities, iron and ironing board, in-room safe and closet hangers, rain Shower, in-room telephone, notebook and pen, complimentary bottles of water, shampoo, toothbrush, bath gel and soap.

During construction, at least 200 workers were used every day over a period of four years.

"The construction of the hotel started in 2016 and last year, it received delegates during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). This year we also accommodated FIFA delegates. This is proof of our outstanding service,” he said.

The brand "M Hotel” is derived from its chairman "Miao Zhenjiang”, the owner.

While officially opening M Hotel, Merard Mpabwanamaguru, City of Kigali’s vice-mayor in charge of urbanisation and infrastructure, thanked the owner and leaders of M Hotel for contributing to boosting the infrastructure and hospitality sector in Kigali.

"The City of Kigali started the journey of becoming an economically successful and socially equitable place with better service delivery, including that offered by hotels. The city emphasises the mobilisation of the increase of suitable, clean and green buildings such as M Hotel to facilitate service delivery,” he said.

He urged M Hotel to maintain a culture of good service delivery, hygiene and sanitation as well as security assurance.

"The hotel is in line with the urbanisation strategy with an emphasis on various needs related to accommodations and services in general. The project is also in line with the process of implementation of the City of Kigali master plan,” he added.

"In Kigali we had over 8,000 hotel rooms and the 116 four-star M Hotel guest rooms are a boost. The hotel will also trigger an increase in tourists in Rwanda as it is globally renowned. The hotel has also played a role in increasing jobs in the hospitality sector,” he said.

In 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic, the tourism and hospitality sector covered around 142,000 jobs.
