Kamichi to release debut album today

Rwanda’s heartthrob, Kamichi, is set to launch his debut album titled ‘Umugabirwa’ today, November 2, at the National University of Rwanda – NUR. Kimichi’s Kigali fans will witness the launch on Nov.3 at the Petit Stade in Remera. The concert will be spiced up by a lineup of famous singers such as Riderman, Knowles, Kitoko, Urban Boys and Jay Polly.

Rwanda’s heartthrob, Kamichi, is set to launch his debut album titled ‘Umugabirwa’ today, November 2, at the National University of Rwanda – NUR.

Kimichi’s Kigali fans will witness the launch on Nov.3 at the Petit Stade in Remera. The concert will be spiced up by a lineup of famous singers such as Riderman, Knowles, Kitoko, Urban Boys and Jay Polly.

The entrance fee to the Petit Stade is Rwf2,000 at the ordinary section and Rwf5000 at the VIP section.

The 13-track album is Kamichi’s debut album having been in the music industry for a while.

He rose to prominence in 2009 following the release of his track "Zoubeda”, which emerged as the Best Song in 2010. He has since worked on various songs including ‘Maritha’, ‘Mwenyura’, ‘Warambeshye’, and ‘Aho Ruzingiye,’ a track that is currently a favourite with local FM stations.

Kamichi is often featured by other artistes and is credited for his unique and hoarse voice. He has worked with numerous performers such as The Ben, Elion and Fireman, Urban Boys, among others.

He has had several Salax Awards nominations and was voted the Best Afrobeat Artiste in 2010.

Apart from singing, Kamichi is a student at Catholic University of Kabgayi, where he is pursuing a degree in journalism and communication. He is also a journalist at Voice of Africa -VOA
