Impala Titans won by 160 runs

A well crafted knock of 81 from skipper Bob Bashir Songa helped Impala Titans to a convincing victory over Kigali Cricket Club (KCC) in the round-robin stage of the Sulfo league on Sunday.

Songa’s impressive effort, which included 12 fours and one six in 110 deliveries, guided the Titans to a massive score of 278 runs from 49.4 overs.

It was a great comeback for the debutants who at one point looked in trouble at 25 for three.

Julius Mbaraga and Emma Byiringiro also weighed in with 66 and 54 runs respectively. Asif Kanuga was the peak of KCC’s bowling with three wickets.

In reply, KCC were bowled out for a paltry 118 thanks to aggressive bowling from Rwanda’s U-17 star Freddy Ndayisenga. The fast bowler picked three wickets for 35 runs while Tito Gakire and Theo Gatera weighed in with two wickets a piece.

The result moved Titan top of the league charts owing to their superior net run-rate over the Right Guards who also beat defending champions Indorwa convincingly last Sunday.

League action continues this Saturday when Right Guards clash with Impala Titans.
