Let’s value whistleblowers

Editor, I read with awe in yesterday’s issue of The NewTimes about the three suspects arrested for allegedly plotting to kill a police informer.  It is ordinary citizens who bear the brunt of crime, have direct experience of it, and suffer from it.  However, they also have power and can use it to fight against crime. Police informers are exemplary citizens who help to avert crime in society.

Editor,

I read with awe in yesterday’s issue of The NewTimes about the three suspects arrested for allegedly plotting to kill a police informer.

It is ordinary citizens who bear the brunt of crime, have direct experience of it, and suffer from it.  However, they also have power and can use it to fight against crime. Police informers are exemplary citizens who help to avert crime in society.

Whistle-blowing is a risky business and the case of the would-be murder victim Zachariah Nzabakurana serves as an example. It would be nice to have more people who are willing to take up the cause to have a crime-free society.
