64 cyclists to race in Tour of Kigali

OVER 60 cyclists are expected to race in this year’s Tour of Kigali.The one-day race, covering 151km race will among others attract South Africa based rider and defending champion Adrien Niyonshuti and the trio of Gasore Hageteka, Nicodem Habiyambere and Joseph Biziyaremye who are fresh from a training camp at South Africa’s training center in Potchefstroom.

OVER 60 cyclists are expected to race in this year’s Tour of Kigali.

The one-day race, covering 151km race will among others attract South Africa based rider and defending champion Adrien Niyonshuti and the trio of Gasore Hageteka, Nicodem Habiyambere and Joseph Biziyaremye who are fresh from a training camp at South Africa’s training center in Potchefstroom.

This year, the winner will pocket Rwf0.3m while first and second runners-up will settle for Rwf 250, 000 and Rwf 200, 000 respectively.

The tour, which is slated for October 31, has received sponsorship from Dstv, Cogear and Kigali City Council.

In a related development, all eight cycling clubs have received four bicycles, jerseys, spare parts and shoes in the run-up to the tour.

The donations which are worth Rwf 180m were given to the National cycling Federation by well wishers from Italy, France, and the United States.
