EVEN without their key striker Said Abedi Makasi, Rayon Sport should be too strong for new league boys Nyanza. The two sides face off this afternoon at Amahoro Stadium.

Makasi, who scored in last month’s 3-1 win over Mukura, injured his knee during yesterday’s training session in Kicukiro.

"Makasi is out of tomorrow’s game against Nyanza but we still have enough quality in the side to win the game,” a confident Ntagwabira said.

The Blues’ coach, however, warned his players not to underestimate Nyanza, one of two sides promoted into the top flight.

"On several occasions, we have dropped points against the small teams so we have to be very careful.”

The match will be preceded by  what is expected to be a hotly contested Barclays Premier League match between Chelsea and Arsenal. Just like last Sunday’s Manchester derby, the London derby will be screened live at Amahoro stadium.

Rayon, who are in fourth place with 10 points, know that victory will leave them on level points with joint league leaders APR and Etincelles.

The Blues were unlucky not to pick up three points in last Sunday’s clash with APR. Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s side dominated proceedings throughout the game and looked destined for maximum points only for Ismail Nshutiyamagara to equalize for the defending champions in the last minute of normal time.

The other day’s match pits SC Kiyovu against La Jeunesse at Kigali Regional Stadium. Like Rayon, the Green Baggies also have 10 points.

Tomorrow, the defending champions APR entertain Mukura, Amagaju host Marines, Espoir play away to Rusizi while Police and Etincelles clash at Kicukiro stadium.
